The installation encourages the audience to interact with the piece and take an orange for their own consumption.
The abundance, brightness and alluring qualities of ripe fruit, are all qualities to the idea of summer. Its alluring nature offers fruit to those who pass by. While more spherical, bright and tender oranges are given the privilege of height and gated by guarding nets, the bruised fruits sit freely at our feet, accessible to all yet held to lesser status. What does it say about our personal choices when we make a decision between the oranges nestled in the woven nets or lingering on the ground floor? To what extent do external features determine our attraction or neglect? How much waste accumulates to satisfy our desires for perfection? Who is at the mercy of the bruised oranges, unrestricted, freely touching the ground?
